METRO IN PORTO

HOW TO BUY METRO TICKET IN PORTO

Buying metro ticket for Porto citizens seems to be really easy task while poor travellers sometimes have to stand for half an hour trying to understand this machine and waiting for a local to pass by and explain them how does it work. So here are the clear (I hope so) instruction how you'd do it.
1. First thing you are going to face is this machine you see on the picture. If it is your first ticket and you don't have the metro blue card yet you are going to press button ''buy ticket''. If you already have the blue metro card you will need to insert your metro card as shown on the photo below.

2. After you complete step one, you need to choose your zone! And that the part which could have confused you if you haven't been reading this post. So what you will see on the right side of the ticket machine is the ''List of Destinations''. Each station have different one depending on which zone you are situated at the moment. The only thing you need to do is to find on this list the station of your destination and click on it on the machine.
3. After you choose the zone, you need to choose the desired number of trips and that's it!
Pretty easy, huh?)

Don't through away your blue metro ticket! You can recharge it as many times as you want and don't pay extra 50 cents each time.

Luckily for those speaking English, French or Spanish, the orientation would be much easier since you can click that button on the left side and change Portuguese to your language. But what if you don't..don't worry! keep reading! Though, in that case you wouldn't be reading my blog either..

Prices of metro depend on the distance (zones you will pass, see the picture below). Normally tourists need just z2 for travelling in the centre and z4 for going to and from the airport.
